Timothy Matthew Slemmons is Professor of Homiletics and Worship at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary, where he has been teaching since 2008 and now directs the Doctor of Ministry program. His most recent publications are translations of works by and about the Swiss Reformer Johannes Oecolampadius: The First Year in Basel (marking 500 years since the 'house lamp' entered the city where he would serve as chief Reformer) includes all Oecolampadius' writings from 1523; and Sown on Rock: The Sermon on the Vernacular and the Correspondence with Hedio (both published in 2022 with B&N Press). Also published in 2022 are his translation of Ernst Staehelin, Breakthrough to the Reformation: Oecolampadius' Journey in Stages from Augsburg to Basel (1518—1522); Waste Not the Fragments: A Commentary for Year D (Christmas); and a short illustrated Christmas story: A Coal Train Bound for Christmas. In 2020, he released The Good Confession, Elaborations of the Psalms (1—50), and Return to God: Historical and Modern Confessional Sources for the Renewal and Regathering of the Church (which includes translations of three shorter pieces by Oecolampadius). Other recent monographs include: Waste Not the Fragments: A Commentary for Year D (Advent), Our Father Knows: The Prayer that Jesus Taught; and The Freedom of Christ: Sermons on Galatians. He has also written a number of other works of homiletical theology (Groans of the Spirit), liturgical resources (Liturgical Elements for Reformed Worship, 4 vols.), and illustrated stories (The Secret of Salix Babylonicus; A Phenomenal Llama). His music is on most streaming services, ranging from his earliest instrumental record: A Soundtrack for the Close of the Age (1991) to his latest record of guitar-based settings of lesser known psalms, Revenant Psalms (2021).
