This won't be a typical bio that reads like a resume. As a reader all you should care about is, can I write and do I know what I'm talking about. Anything else is just ego stroking.
So, why did I write the book? While working as a bodyguard I began to realize that a lot of people who really needed protective services could never afford it.
That didn't seem fair to me, so, after getting out of that line of work, I decided to share what I'd learned. Here then is a collection of the tips and tricks I used to keep clients safe for over 25 years.
Am I qualified to do that? I like to think so. I began martial arts at age 8 and, every time I got high enough in a system, I'd leave and begin studying another one. I ended up, as a result, with a black belt in every art you can get a black belt in.
That on its own isn't much. One style however used its schools as a feeder for its security business so I did crowd control, bouncing and body guarding for them. Those jobs provided me with lab like conditions to use what I learned in school in the real world. So, unlike most other instructors, I know what works first hand and I'm not regurgitating theory.
Not only did I go up against all comers in the world of non-consensual violence but I also boxed professionally, kick-boxed, and fought in Judo tournaments around the world.
That took care of unarmed combat but true protection wouldn't be complete without an understanding of weapons. I served in the French Foreign Legion as a para-commando and frogman before working around the world protecting the rich and the famous.
I appeared on Spike TVs Deadliest Warrior, teach Defensive Pistol and Warriors Krav Maga.
That's all the skills taken care of. Can I impart that knowledge to you, the reader? You'll ultimately be the judge of that but the book has garnered critical acclaim from peers, received predominantly five star reviews and was nominated for book of the year at the British Martial Arts Award Show.
Never forget. The will to survive might well be instinctive. The ability to survive however, is learned.
PS: Outside of this I enjoy learning languages, painting, writing books, performance psychology, public speaking and reading.
