Janie Nesbitt Jones began her literary career as a volunteer for Arkansas's Humane Society of Faulkner County, writing copy for charity fundraisers. She and her schnauzer, Sylvie, helped introduce the animal assisted therapy program to Arkansas Children's Hospital. It was an article about Sylvie and other pet therapists that led to Janie's work in writing human interest features for the River Valley & Ozark Edition of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. She and her husband, Wyatt Jones, co-authored two books; Hiking Arkansas and Arkansas Curiosities. In 2006, Janie found her niche as the true crime journalist for AY Magazine, Arkansas's premier lifestyle publication. It was as a contributing writer for AY that she discovered the story of serial killer James Waybern "Red" Hall. Janie is the first person to write a book about Hall's life. The chronicle, The Arkansas Hitchhike Killer, is published by The History Press/Arcadia Publishing. The book was released March 1, 2021.
