Jim Sargent grew up playing sports like baseball in Flint, Michigan. After Kearsley High, he earned the Bachelor's at Eastern Michigan in 1964. His MA and PhD in US History both came from Michigan State. Starting in 1970, he taught American History for forty years at Clemson, Ball State, and, starting in 1977, at Virginia Western Community College, in Roanoke. His top two baseball histories are We Were the All-American Girls (McFarland, Inc., 2013) and The Tigers and Yankees in '61 (McFarland, 2016). In recent years Jim has published five Mickey Mathews mysteries: Final Secret (Wynwidyn Press, 2017), The Long Pursuit (Wynwidyn, 2018), Shadow of the Hawk (Wynwidyn, 2020), Warm Springs Mystery (Doce Blant Publishing, 2020), and The Frightened Physicists (Doce Blant, 2021). Mickey, a former sports star at Michigan Normal College (today's Eastern Michigan), lives in Ypsilanti and writes mystery novels set in the 1940s. Along with his friends Frank Tuttle, a retired Army officer, and African American Tommy Jefferson, a former heavyweight boxer, Mickey sets out to unravel murder mysteries that take he and his friends him all over the United States.
