I'm a historian of Renaissance and early modern Europe and author of books including The Beauty and the Terror: An Alternative History of the Italian Renaissance, The Black Prince of Florence: The Spectacular Life and Treacherous World of Alessandro de' Medici and The Divorce of Henry VIII: The Untold Story. My next book, coming June 2024 in the UK with international editions to follow is The Roads to Rome: A History.
