Jason holds the MA and PhD degrees in Liturgical Studies from The Catholic University of America, as well as Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in vocal performance including the study of musicology, composition, arranging, piano, organ, and french horn from the University of South Dakota (summa cum laude, with honors). His research in Liturgical Studies has appeared in a variety of journals and pastoral resources. His book Announcing the Feast: The Entrance Song in the Mass of the Roman Rite (2012) is considered by many to be the standard treatment of the subject to date. Jason is currently a member of the editorial board for the Australian Journal of Liturgy and is a Consultant to the National Liturgical Council (Australia). At CUA he studied with many of the luminaries in contemporary Liturgical Studies, including David Power, Mary Collins, Gerard Austin, James White, Stephen Happel, Kevin Irwin, Margaret Mary Kelleher, and Catherine Dooley, as well as influential figures in Systematic Theology like Joseph Komonchak, Peter Phan, William Loewe, and James Provost.
