A pioneer in the practice of ecotherapy, Dr. Hasbach is a licensed psychotherapist, consultant, author, and college educator. In private practice for nearly 30 years, Dr. Hasbach specializes in managing anxiety and depression, as well as fostering health and wellness. She consults with schools, environmental groups, businesses and institutions including Google, Chautauqua Institution, and the Oregon Department of Corrections. Dr. Hasbach served as the Co-Director of the Ecopsychology Certificate Program in the Graduate School of Counseling & Education at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon where she taught for 13 years. She sits on the Editorial Board of the academic journal, Ecopsychology. In addition to her newest book, Grounded (2022) published by Simon & Schuster, Dr. Hasbach has published numerous articles and book chapters and is an author and co-editor of two MIT Press books, The Rediscovery of the Wild (2013) and Ecopsychology: Science, Totems, and the Technological Species (2012), which was nominated for the 2014 Grawemeyer Award in Psychology. As one of the media's go-to ecotherapists, she and her work has appeared in numerous outlets including Time Magazine, Vogue, Outside Magazine, the Utne Reader, The NY Times Sunday Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Christian Science Monitor, and Sierra Magazine. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, backpacking, kayaking, gardening, and quiet time in nature. She is an avid traveler and a lover of the wild!
