Patricia Prijatel

关于作者

Prijatel is the Slovene word for friend, and Patricia tries to live up to that definition, writing books that help guide readers through difficult times and complex topics. Her voice is that of a friend, a companion, a guide. She uses research to provide fact-based information and personal observation to provide context. And even in the worst of circumstances she uses her strongest tool—humor—to keep readers engaged. And to keep herself largely sane. She is the E.T. Meredith Distinguished Professor Emerita at Drake University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communications. She is the author of Burn Scars: A Memoir of the Land and Its Loss and Surviving Triple-Negative Breast Cancer and co-author of The Magazine from Cover to Cover. She’s published more than a thousand articles and essays for a diverse array of publications, including Psychology Today, Cure, Better Homes and Gardens, Print, Diabetic Living, Huffington Post, Ms., and Balanced Living. A native of Pueblo,Colorado, she lives in Des Moines, Iowa, and spends her summers at her hand-build cabin in the southern Colorado mountains.
