Kenneth Jorgensen is the author of the Kusunoki Chronicles . He describes his discovery of the joys of reading: "When I was in fourth grade I spent a week in bed with the measles and, in rapid succession, another week sick with chicken pox. After a couple of days I was mostly bored. My dad brought me a copy of Tarzan of the Apes, by Edgar Rice Burroughs. I read it in about a day, reading almost continually. In those two weeks I read probably half a dozen books. That experience was transformative, and led to a life-long love of speculative fiction and adventure stories."
