Stratford Sherman

Stratford Sherman is a writer and advisor to CEOs. He reported and wrote for Fortune magazine 1977-1997, an era of crisis for large corporations. After covering Wall Street, Hollywood, and Silicon Valley, Strat focused on the leadership of large organizations through major change. His coverage of General Electric led him to write the best-selling CONTROL YOUR DESTINY OR SOMEONE ELSE WILL with Noel Tichy. (The other books listed on this page generally are collections to which Strat contributed.) Although most of the leadership ideas in CONTROL YOUR DESTINY, considered radical at publication in 1993, have since been widely accepted, an important exception may be the principle that the sustained success of organizations depends on collective learning. This idea is the root of Strat's subsequent work.
