Iris Cruz

Iris Cruz was born in Chicago, Illinois. Her family moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico when she was 5 years old. She has been part of both cultures, sharing their languages and gastronomy. The rich traditions of these two cultures inspired her passion for cooking. Living in the fast track world we live nowadays, characterized by urgency, appearances and superficiality, has raised her concern about the indifference there is regarding table pleasures and good eating. Years of culinary culture are being replaced by fast food chains and this has led to the disappearance of many delicious and healthy recipes of our ancestors. When we move to a distant land the art of our family’s fine dining is sometimes lost or replaced, and our children and grandchildren lose the opportunity to enjoy it. This is the reason why Iris Cruz has been concerned on bringing to the world her collection of cookbooks from Puerto Rico and The Caribbean so that they do not disappear from the modern table’s dishes and recipes. These great meals must accompany the great moments of our lives.
