She spent twenty years in the bead business but carried over her love of teaching from a career as a university professor to beading and taught hundreds of students in a wide variety of seed bead techniques, bead embroidery, and beginning to advanced stringing, as well as wire techniques. The bead business has been sold but she now travels and writes full time so keep an eye out for other books and patterns coming soon. Besides beading, Sheila loves to take photographs from her travels with favorite subjects being birds, flowers, butterflies, native animals, and landscapes. She also has a background in textile arts, mainly weaving and felting, and participated in many shows, both group shows and as a featured artist.
