Jan Westmore , native of Northern California, left the San Francisco Bay Area after a 20 year corporate career with A. T. & T. Upon relocating to an old gold mining town in the Sierra foothills, not far from the subject of her new book Images of America: Colfax, Westmore developed a fascination for the history and folklore of the region.

Her credits include bi-lined chapters in Nature Companies, A Walkers Companion (1996) and a leadership book, The Sages among Us (2012). More than fifty of her articles have been published in magazines and newspapers.

Westmore holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Mills College in Oakland and a masters of science in International Business from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California. She completed corporate management programs at both Penn State and Stanford University.

Active in writing groups, Jan Westmore is the past president and current non-fiction critique group leader for Sierra Writers, a member of the California Writers Club and past participant at the Squaw Valley Writers Group, a juried writers program. She is a member of the Colfax Area Historical Society, the Placer County Historical Society and the Nevada County Historical Society.

Westmore is an avid reader and photographer. She has a passion for nature and understanding the history and culture of different places, both here and overseas. She actively supports the arts and non-profit organizations in the community.
