Larry Newman is an accomplished author, esteemed music educator, and prolific composer, specializing in empowering and inspiring elementary music students. With a wealth of experience in the field, he has taught and supervised music programs in more than 100 elementary, secondary, and college institutions. As the founder and CEO of Children's Music Workshop and Music Fun Books, Larry has curated a vast collection of over 300 books, arrangements, and compositions. His works are specifically designed to cater to the needs of young musicians across various instruments, including strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, guitar, and ukulele.
With a strong foundation in music education, Larry holds a Bachelor of Music Education, cum laude, from Temple University's College of Music, and a Master of Arts in Music Performance from Eastern Illinois University. Armed with a California teaching credential, he has made substantial contributions to music programs in numerous public and private institutions, spanning Kindergarten to college levels.
Larry's expertise extends beyond the educational realm. As a talented trumpet player, he has captivated audiences across the United States, Canada, and Japan. His performances include notable stints with The Glenn Miller Orchestra® under the direction of Larry O'Brien and The Claridge Hotel Casino Orchestra in Atlantic City under the baton of Jack Six. Larry has also entertained listeners on various cruise ships, including a one year cruise with The S/S Norway Big Band.
Acknowledged for his exceptional achievements, Larry Newman has been honored with five Los Angeles area Emmy awards for his annual elementary orchestra broadcasts from UCLA's renowned Schoenberg Concert Hall. He received the prestigious Lori Petrick Excellence in Education Award from the Palisades Charter Schools Foundation. His invaluable contributions to music education in Los Angeles were recognized at City Hall by the Los Angeles City Council, and he has been featured on CityView's Channel 35 series, "Faces of LA." Furthermore, Larry's dedication to arts education earned him a nomination for the distinguished BRAVO Award, established by the Music Center of Los Angeles County.
