Marc Hurwitz was born in London, England, in 1961. He grew up in Guelph, Ontario, where he did his first degree in physics. After a short hiatus as a professional actor interrupted his academic career, Marc obtained Masters degrees in physics and mathematics. Since then he also acquired a PhD in cognitive neuroscience and an MBA.
In Spring, 2005, Marc met Samantha. It was the start of a long and productive partnership, beginning with romance and subsequently leading to joint research on followership and collaborations. Shortly thereafter, they founded FliPskills together. During that time, Marc was also a Consulting Partner for Thinkx, one of the top creativity firms in the world.
Marc has many years of corporate, executive, and entrepreneurial experience in diverse areas from Marketing to HR to Actuarial. He has taught physics, mathematics, HR, organizational behavior, and finance at the university level, for which he has occasionally been given kudos as an engaging, 'real-world' professor and not a woolly-headed academic at all! Now he is a faculty member of the Conrad Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology Centre at the University of Waterloo.
Other passions include poetry and musical theatre, neither of which he is particularly accomplished at, and which mostly embarrasses his children.
