Dr Catriona McAra is an art historian and curator based in Scotland and working internationally. She is Lecturer in Modern and Contemporary Art History at the University of Aberdeen, and has previously worked in research curation at the University of St Andrews and Leeds Arts University. Prior to that, she was awarded her doctorate in History of Art at the University of Glasgow, and held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) at the University of Edinburgh. She has published extensively on the art and literature of Dorothea Tanning and Leonora Carrington with a particular interest in feminist aesthetics and surrealist legacies in contemporary practice.
