Dale Craiger lives in Birmingham, Alabama with his wife Vicki and their crazy cat, Sissy. He enjoys playing guitar, writing songs, drawing and painting. Mendel started out as a kernel of an idea 30 years ago as a story he was writing to entertain his children. Started on a computer in 1993 he borrowed from a friend on weekends. It was mostly written on his kitchen table after everyone had gone to sleep. It began as a short story a few pages long, but it took on a mind of it's own, and kept insisting that it had more to say. Dale put it away from time to time, but it stayed in the back of his mind. Many years later, after the children were grown he revisited it when a snowstorm snowed them in for 4 days. By now he had grandchildren, and the sense of urgency to finish it before they got any older (like the girls in the story) hit him strong. The writing was pretty much finished in 2014, but the illustrations were not finished until 2023. Dale has also written a short story, 'Poppy's Prize', a horror story. It is also available on Amazon
