Antony Augoustakis is Professor of Classics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University Scholar, and Associate Director of the School of Literatures, Cultures & Linguistics. He earned a BA in Greek Philology from the University of Crete at Rethymno, Greece, and a PhD in Classics from Brown University. His research focuses on the cultural poetics and the sociopolitics of Flavian poetry (ca. 80-100 CE), in particular the epic poets Silius Italicus and Statius, as well as the modern reception of Classics.
