Chris graduated with a horticulture degree in 2004 from Texas A&M University. That fall, he began The Southern Bulb Company, a flower bulb company that focused on perennial garden flower bulbs for warmer climates. Many of his original bulbs came from old Texas homesites where early settlers lived in the late 1800s and early 1900s. His collection efforts led to the New York Times dubbing him The Bulb Hunter. After 10 years in a 500 square foot red cabin in the woods by the bulb farm, he eventually moved in town to Tyler, TX with his wife, Rebecca. It should be noted Rebecca stuck it out in that cabin for almost two years - love grows in small places! They have 3 children. Chris is a sought after speaker for garden clubs and historic societies, entertaining listeners with stories of collecting bulbs, meeting people, and sharing of his photography.
