Paolo Carnelli

关于作者

One of the most distinguished Italian Prog Rock journalists, Paolo Carnelli (Rome, 5/5/1974) has been writing about music for over 25 years. He started out in 1994 as a freelance contributor for the fanzine Wonderous Stories, of which he quickly became Editor-in-Chief, converting it into a regular and established music magazine until it folded in 2012. He also wrote for websites and periodicals, both in Italy and abroad, such as Suono, Metal Shock, Colossus, Contrappunti, Dusk, Musikbox, Raro. He later reconverted Wonderous Stories into an online webzine, giving birth to Open Magazine - www.openmagazine.info - still going strong today. In 2001 he launched Hammillitalia, a mailing list entirely devoted to the music of Van der Graaf Generator and its leader. In 2002 he became part of the Peter Hammill and VdGG italian study group, a collective of researches and enthusiasts with whom he toured the country holding lectures, readings and live shows. With the collective, Paolo produced "Dark Figures Running" (2005) and "Fogwalking" (2013), the first ever books in italian on Hammill and Van der Graaf lyrics. Among the other books he published are "Racconti a 33 Giri" (2003), a joint effort to explore the rich italian progressive music scene of the '70s, and "Van der Graaf Generator - La Biografia Italiana" (2013), the highly acclaimed italian biography of the British band. Since 2018 he's the Editorial Director of Prog magazine Italian edition. Paolo graduated in Theater History in 2001 and is currently living in Rome with his wife and daughter.
