Helen I. Driggs

I am a Metalsmith/Artist and writer.

In addition to my book, I have lots of teaching information out there, including the following instructional DVDs: Metalsmith Essentials: Riveting & Cold Connections and Metalsmith Essentials Basic Fabrication, both available here on Amazon or at Interweave's online store.

My background is as an illustrator of science and information; my chosen medium is pen and black ink. Drawing influences my metalwork, and I am approaching a place where I can combine both artistic disciplines. Classification inspires me. I've collected a variety of potential jewelry materials and much like an evolutionary biologist, I group and describe with sketches and notes before I touch metal. Until I feel certain there is logic to the assembled group, I continue to think. When I am confident it is right for me, I make the object.
