Professor John Manners-Bell (54) is Chief Executive of global market research organization Transport Intelligence, founder of the Foundation for Future Supply Chain, Honorary Visiting Professor at the London Metropolitan University’s Guildhall Faculty of Business and Law and an adviser to organizations including the World Economic Forum and UN. He has over 35 years’ experience working in and analyzing the global logistics sector. John started his working life as an operations manager of a logistics company based in the UK. Prior to establishing Transport Intelligence in 2002, he worked as an analyst in consultancies specializing in international trade, transport and logistics. He also spent a number of years as a manager of global express and logistics company, UPS, in a strategic marketing and communications role. John holds an MSc in Transport Planning and Management from University of Westminster and is an Associate of King's College London where he studied Classics and Theology. He is a Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and former Chair of the Supply Chain and Logistics Global Advisory Council of the World Economic Forum. He has also advised the European Commission Directorate-General for Energy and Transport. He has written six books on the industry - ‘Global Logistics Strategies: Delivering the Goods’, (second edition retitled 'Introduction to Global Logistics'); ‘Supply Chain Risk Management: Understanding Emerging Threats to Global Supply Chains’, ‘Logistics and Supply Chains in Emerging Markets’, 'Supply Chain Ethics', 'The Logistics and Supply Chain Innovation Handbook' and 'The Death of Globalization'. His second book, ‘Supply Chain Risk’ won the Mention Speciale ACA-Bruel Prize for supply chain literature in 2014 and the Royal Logistic Corps Foundation award in 2015. John is regularly quoted in the trade and national press (FT, Bloomberg, Wall St Journal, Economist etc) as well as appearing on TV and Radio. He speaks regularly at conferences in countries around the world which have included Brazil, China, Colombia, Mexico, Denmark, India, USA, France, Germany, Netherlands, Singapore, Switzerland, Spain, Luxembourg, Denmark, Belgium, South Africa, Mauritius as well as the UK. For two years from 2008, he was Special Adviser to the UK Conservative Shadow Transport Ministerial Team, advising on issues including road freight policy. John is married with two children and lives in Bath, UK.
