Nathan Barnes

Most of my writing is focused on hiking and history for the website hikingwithmybrother.com and our guidebooks. While much of the writing I do centers on hike descriptions, it's never lost on me that every trail has a story to tell. From legendary treasure seekers to timber barons to pioneering outdoor adventurers, trails have been the stage for a cast of intriguing characters. Unearthing those stories is a big part of my writing process and telling those stories is one way I hope readers can connect with the land they are hiking through. Like so many things in life, once you have some background and context, the contours and artifacts you find along a trail start making a lot more sense.
