Juliet Lilledahl Scherer

My professional title at St. Louis Community College is Professor of English, and I am a certified developmental education specialist. Specifically, as a literacy, language, and learning specialist, I work to cultivate the reading, writing, thinking, and speaking skills of postsecondary learners. I recently led St. Louis Community College's developmental education redesign as part of our Achieving the Dream work, and transitioned directly after that for a year to work as St. Louis Community College's developmental education contextualization specialist on a statewide MoHealthWINs grant. MoHealthWINs is a Missouri community college effort supported jointly by the U.S. Dept of Labor and U.S. Dept of Education with Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training funds. For nearly fifteen years, my work has revolved around helping community members in the greater St. Louis area develop their reading, writing, thinking & speaking skills to improve their postsecondary education and employment opportunities. Additionally, I consult internationally with higher education leaders on these same matters as they work to prepare their citizens to compete in the twenty-first century global economy.
