I'm a regular visitor to Thailand and I use it as my base for exploring other SE Asia countries. I've also travelled the length and breadth of Thailand, from the border lands of Malaysia all the way up to Mae Sai and the Golden Triangle, from Mae Sot in the west to Nong Khai in the east.
You'll see me scooting around on my motorcycle taking photos and chatting to people, these days you won't see me in the bars much. I'm more likely to be in the deep countryside talking to Thai villagers, visiting the Mountain People, or when I get a chance, living in a Thai temple for a few days.
I employ two Thai researchers that do a lot of the heavy lifting for me. I feel that they are more likely to get the truth out of the Thai people they interview, or at least know when someone is spinning a line.
I'm interested in people - and the driving factor behind the books is to help people avoid traps. Some of the titles deal with harsh subjects, and that's unfortunate. It would be even more unfortunate if the subjects were not addressed. Many good people come unstuck in Thailand, and my "harsher," books are designed to give people forewarning of common problems and difficulties.
It's the year 2020, and I have been quiet for a while. It's my intention this year to spread my wings a little bit and look at issues in greater depth. I've returned to retirement issues as well as addressing issues that have had a detrimental effect on the expatriate community. I'm getting a bit worn out writing about negative issues and I hope to redress the balance with some more joyful books about Thailand soon. I love this country.
There are three real people behind The Blether pen name, myself and the two researchers I mentioned. Our aim is to inform, and we hope that you derive great value from our books. Our aim is to ensure that everyone has a great time in this fabulous country - and hearing success stories makes it all worthwhile.
And that's what it's all about - success - for you. Any reasonable person would want to know the upsides and downsides of any situation posed to them. I know I have helped thousands of people sidestep problems, because they email me to tell me. You can also contact me on my Facebook page, The Blether.
