关于作者

I've been both a writer and a film enthusiast all my life, but it wasn't until about a decade ago that I managed to combine these two great loves. Since 2014, I've written four books on classic Hollywood films. The most recent is 2023's SILENT FILM'S LAST HURRAH: THE REMARKABLE MOVIES OF THE LONG 1928. This is a look at the fascinating, sometimes sad, and sometimes inspiring last days of silent film in the U.S. and the gifted people behind some of the best of them, including (among others) Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Lillian Gish, and King Vidor. My previous film books include WOMEN IN THE FILMS OF JOHN FORD, THE NOIR WESTERN, and WOMEN FILM EDITORS. THE NOIR WESTERN was named Film Noir Book of the Year in 2015 by CLASSIC IMAGES MAGAZINE. In addition to these books, I've spent 30 years writing for more than 120 different companies and other organizations. I've also published three other books. Two books of my poetry, ISLANDS IN THE SKY (1997) and REALMS OF GOLD (2002), are also available through Amazon. Currently, I am working on a fifth film studies book. I have a BA in English from the University of California, Davis, and an MA in English from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
