Michael Carter

Michael Carter grew up around stones. His father, Ray Carter, has produced beautiful memorials in middle Tennessee for nearly half a century. Michael learned the art of designing and lettering granite and marble alongside his father. While attending graduate school, Michael worked with another monument firm in Memphis,Tn. After receiving a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Memphis, Michael spent 20 years as a classroom teacher, teaching art to students ranging from Kindergarten to University level. Today Michael and his wife Teresa live in South Carolina, where they spend their days painting and writing. The Stone is Michael's first book.
