Sue Boardman, a Gettysburg Licensed Battlefield Guide since 2001, is Leadership Coordinator for the Gettysburg Foundation. A two time winner of the Superintendent’s Award for Excellence in Guiding, Sue is a recognized expert of the Battle of Gettysburg Cyclorama as well as the National Park’s history and the history of the National Cemetery. Her “In the Footsteps of Leaders” programs have become popular with corporate, government and educational organizations. Sue worked as Museum Coordinator and historical consultant for the Gettysburg National Parks $13 million restoration of the epic Cyclorama painting that serve as the center piece of the Parks new visitor center. She has co-authored a book on this subject, authored an earlier one and also published a book on Elizabeth Thorn, wife of the caretaker of Evergreen during the war.. Sue is a native of Danville, PA and an Honors Graduate from Penn State/Geisinger Medical Center School of Nursing. A 23 year career as an Emergency Department nurse preceded her career at Gettysburg. Sue serves on the board of the historic Evergreen Cemetery Association as well as adjunct instructor for Harrisburg Area Community College and Susquehanna University.
