Nicolas Aubin studied History at the Universities of Rouen, Nanterre, Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and Sciences-Po Paris. After specializing in the history of the French Communist Party (PCF), his childhood passion for military history has led him to study the Second World War for almost twenty years. Nicolas Aubin is resolutely part of the “new battle-history” movement, which combines academic know-how, epistemological renewal and preserved passion. He has published “Les routes de la liberté”, a ground-breaking study of US Army logistics in Europe, published by Histoire et Collection (translate in english "Liberty Roads"), “La course au Rhin”, which revisits the campaign in the west in the autumn of 1944, published by Economica, “Le débarquement” in the Verités et légendes collection published by Perrin, and in 2024 he will be releasing a monograph on the US Marines, which questions both their history and the making of this myth in the American pantheon. In collaboration with Jean Lopez, Nicolas Guillerat and Vincent Bernard, he co-authored “l'infographie de la seconde guerre mondiale”, the highlight of the 2018 literary season in military history, translated into some twenty languages ("Infographics of World War Two", Thames & Hudson). In 2024, still with Jean Lopez and this time with Benoist Bihan, he published a history of “World War II operations in a hundred maps”, with an unprecedented operative reading grid as its matrix.
