Elizabeth Wasserman was born in Klersdorp, South Africa. She studied medicine at the University of the Free State, and later specialised in pathology at Stellenbosch University. After spending many years in academia she worked as a pathologist in private practise while holding the position of extraordinary professor in Medical Microbiology at Stellenbosch University. Elizabeth is very interested in science and nature, and believes that one has to understand how everything fits together in order to treat our ecosystem, and each other, with care and respect. She now lives and works in Nelson, New Zealand.
