Edith R. Brotman

Hi, I'm Edie Raphael (aka Edith Raphael Brotman), PhD, RYT 500-- an experienced educator, coach, and highly trained yoga teacher. I have a BA in International Relations, and a MA and PhD in Sociology. These days my attention has settled in the center of a Venn diagram of the topics of spirituality, wellness, and how we give meaning to our lives. One of the things people note about my writing is the creativity of the content. I take subjects the might seem unrelated and find a new way to connect them, like the ancient Jewish practice of self-improvement called Mussar and the Vedic tradition of yoga, or the practice of meditation and the setting of the workplace. When I was a young girl my sister and I would write short little plays and books at a desk in the basement. In middle school and high school I also dabbled with writing. I always wanted to be a writer, but I never imagined I'd be publishing non-fiction books. Maybe there's a fiction piece in my future too.
