Knack can trace its beginnings to furniture makeovers: spotting a piece and being able to see beyond the dust and grime into its heart. Barb Blair, founder of Knack, became hooked on the transformative power of paint when she redid her kitchen cabinets in 2000. After years of experimenting and learning from trial and error Barb perfected her finishes. With careful prep work, thoughtful design, and a myriad of original features like unique knobs and paper-lined drawers, the furniture emerges more beautiful than it ever was. This attention to detail has blossomed into an entire retail shop filled with functional yet beautiful finds and gifts. Barb opened her first brick and mortar studio in 2007 and has since written a best selling book, Furniture Makeovers, published by Chronicle Books, and is working on a second book, Furniture Makes the Room, which is due out in March of 2016.
