Deborah Cupples has taught at the University of Florida Levin College of Law since 2006 and enjoys her job—teaching courses mainly about how to draft and interpret legal documents (such as contracts, statutes, and litigation documents). Her most recent book is "It Is About You: How American Government Works & How to Help Fix It": a nonpartisan, short, easy-to-read guide to how government works and ways you can get involved and have a say in how government affects your life. Cupples also co-authored two books relating to legal writing. Before becoming a professor, Cupples practiced law. She continues to practice on a professional and a pro-bono basis. She has worked on political campaigns and has run for local office. Cupples has a law degree, an MA in political science, and a BA in English. In what seems a lifetime ago, she owned a small business in the Florida Keys.
