I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for a childhood friend. He was an excellent guitarist with a hilarious sense of humor that inspired me to be funny. We made crank phone calls (tame by today's standards). We marched and protested about meaningless things (you can't do that today without the police being called). We held mini-Woodstock’s in the parking lot next to his house. When he played with his musician friends, it sounded great. When it was just he and I, we were the "Dickie Green Quintet". By this time I had taken up the trumpet and was unintentionally hilarious. (I have no musical talent and sounded terrible.) We were Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis - music and comedy. I attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City where I majored in filmmaking making several comedy films. After graduation I tried my hand at standup and writing. Eventually I came to that fork in the road - comedy or eating. I chose to eat and became a photographer. Today I combine my photography with my (sometimes) funny writing.
