Dr. Perry Shaw served for many years as Academic Dean and Professor of Education at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary, Lebanon. He has now settled in Sydney Australia, where he is Honorary Research Associate at Morling College. Perry and his family served in the Middle East from 1990 to 2019. During the 1990s Perry was involved in helping establish extension centres in Syria for the Program for Theological Education by Extension. He then taught at the Near East School of Theology (Beirut) during the early years of the millennium, joining the ABTS Faculty in 2007. At ABTS Perry led the development of a highly innovative curriculum, which has led to a significant role as a faculty development consultant for theological schools across the globe. Since 2006 Perry has spent much of every year as a curriculum and faculty development consultant for theological schools across the globe and is active in the missional theological education movement within the International Council for Evangelical Theological Education (ICETE). Perry’s passion is to help theological schools to develop and implement multidimensional purpose-driven curricula that promote the development of missional leadership. Perry has published the following educational texts: Transforming Theological Education 2nd ed. (Carlisle: Langham, 2022; translated to French and Spanish), The Art of Teaching (Amman: PTEE; translated to Arabic, Farsi, Armenian, and Urdu), and The Acts of the Apostles (Amman: PTEE; translated to Arabic). Perry has also co-edited with Havilah Dharamraj Challenging Tradition: Innovation in Advanced Theological Education (Carlisle: Langham, 2018) and with César Lopes, Joanna Soberano-Feliciano, and Bob Heaton Teaching across Cultures: A global Christian Perspective (Carlisle: Langham, 2021). Perry has published numerous articles in the fields of Theological Education and Leadership Studies. Perry and his wife Karen have two adult children, Christopher and Phoebe. For relaxation he likes to drink coffee, play squash, and watch movies – but not at the same time.
