Dr. Michael T. Garrett, Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation, is a counselor educator and certified school counselor. In addition, Dr. Garrett has also written several academic books. He authored Walking on the Wind: Cherokee Teachings for Harmony and Balance, Native American Faith in America, and Counseling and Diversity: Counseling Native Americans, as well as coauthored the books, Medicine of the Cherokee: The Way of Right Relationship, Cherokee Full Circle: A Practical Guide to Ceremonies and Traditions and Counseling and Diversity. Dr. Michael T. Garrett grew up on the Native American reservation in western North Carolina. Garrett still possesses strong family and community ties on the reservation there. Due to his background and experience with Native people, both professionally and personally, Dr. Michael T. Garrett provides an informed viewpoint and expertise with Native American culture, topics and contemporary issues.
