Steve W. Lemke served as Provost and Professor of Philosophy and Ethics at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary for over 20 years, then five years as Vice President for Institutional Assessment. He currently serves as the Provost Emeritus. He has also served as a member of the Louisiana Board of Ethics and Supervisory Committee on Campaign Finance, as a commissioner on the Board of Commissioners of the Committee on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools, and as a fellow of the Research Institute of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention. He has also served as a member of the Institutional Ethics Committees of several major hospitals. Lemke was born in Waco, Texas, and reared in North Louisiana. He earned the Bachelor of Arts degree (History major, Journalism minor) from Louisiana Tech University. He then earned the Master of Divinity and Master of Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he later earned the Ph.D. degree, majoring in Philosophy of Religion and minoring in Ethics and Preaching. He did additional graduate study in Philosophy at Texas Christian University, University of Texas at Dallas, and Texas A&M University. Lemke served as minister in churches in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Montana, and Alaska, and taught on the faculties of Williams Baptist College, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has also been a chaplain at several medical centers. He has also served as an adjunct teacher at Tarrant County College, Weatherford College, Blinn College, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, B. H. Carroll Theological Seminary, Criswell College, Liberty University School of Divinity, Emanuel University (Romania), Bucharest Theological Seminary (Romania), and St. Petersburg Theological Seminary (Russia). His areas of interest include Philosophy of Religion, Theological Anthropology, Historical Theology, Aesthetics, Hermeneutics, and Ethics.
