John Glass was born in Warm Springs, California – population 250. From that small town his family moved to Colorado, then on to Southern Cal and in 1954 settled on a seven-acre avocado ranch where John grew up until the time he went off to college. His love of nature and the outdoors was passed onto him by his mother – who had grown up on a farm with her family and lived off the land throughout the entire depression. John is a self-taught photographer. He got his first Canon SLR in 1974 and began photographing the deserts and mountains of Nevada and Utah. He has always enjoyed the outdoors and has hiked, fished and hunted all over the west. He shot nothing but Kodachrome 25 and 64 slides for over 20 years in order to get the finest detail and color from the photos he shot. Finally in 2003, John began the change over to digital photography. In 2007 he met his wife Jean and with her urging he revitalized his interest in photography. He purchased the new high-tech gear and began shooting in earnest again as they traveled in search of aesthetic photo locations. He has shot all over the West and Hawaii. He mostly loves to shoot the outdoors and landscape photography but also does a lot of pro-bono work for his favorite social betterment groups. John lives with his wife, Jean Dale Glass, in Glendale, California.
