Sam Mickey, PhD, is a scholar, teacher, and writer in the environmental humanities, focusing on ethics and ontologies of nonhumans across multiple perspectives: existential phenomenology, comparative (cross-cultural) philosophy, deconstruction, ecofeminism, and ecocriticism.

Sam teaches in the Theology and Religious Studies department and the Environmental Studies program at the University of San Francisco. He has also taught at Dominican University of California, Pacifica Graduate Institute, and the California Institute of Integral Studies. He is a research associate for the Yale Forum on Religion and Ecology, and he is the Reviews Editor for the journal, Worldviews: Religions, Culture, and Ecology.
