www.georgevafiadis.com George Vafiadis, throughout his 50-year career, has championed the development of regional theater in the United States. In his memoir, A FLAME, Mr. Vafiadis shares with you the essence of his success. Vafiadis founded three theater companies: Acadia Repertory Theatre, L/A Public Theatre and Penobscot Theatre Company. After forty years, all three are thriving. As a director, Vafiadis has mounted 80 professional productions ranging from light comedy to contemporary and classic dramas. He has produced 11 Greek Tragedies in nine US cities, using techniques learned at Epidaurus from his mentor, Dimitri Rondiris of the Greek National Theatre. Of his 90 roles as an Equity actor, he performed at notable regional theaters, including The Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival, Cleveland Play House, Ashland Shakespeare Festival, Loretto Hilton Repertory Company, Hartford Stage, North Shore Music Theatre and Chautauqua Summer Theatre, among others. Mr. Vafiadis’ mission is to make regional theater as important to a community as the local library.
