-BOOKS FOR SENIORS, THOSE WITH ALZHEIMER'S OR READING TROUBLES- Emma Rose Sparrow has been a successful writer of non-fiction for over a decade (under an alternate pen name). When both of her parents were diagnosed with dementia, her writing took a new path. There is a need for books for seniors that are 1) formatted to be easy to read depending on the reader's abilities and 2) by all appearances looked like a "regular" book that a person can be proud to own. This has led to the creation of books in 3 levels that have no text inside or on the cover specifying that they are for memory impaired, Alzheimer's patients or those with reading troubles: Level 3: Short stories, formatted to appear as a 'regular book'. Each book contains a 7 chapter story that is interesting and very pleasant with a touch of humor thrown in. Elements include: Slightly larger text (16x font). Short chapters. Short paragraphs. One extra space between each sentence to encourage the mind to take pause. One or two vivid color photos per each short chapter to give a visual clue to the subject matter without distracting the read. All books in this series have adult main characters that the reader will relate to. Level 2: Reader does best with one large photo and 1 to 2 short sentences at a time. Each page is independent of the other. Each book in this series focuses on the wonders of a certain color: Orange, red, blue, green, pink, purple and yellow. With titles like A Year's Worth of Yellow and A Gathering or Green, the reader will have a full "real" book experience. The format offers stunning full color, high-quality photographs with 1-2 short sentences below each photo. The choice to read the 16x font text or simply marvel at the photos is at the reader's discretion. Level 1: For book lovers who have reached a point of not being able to read words, but still love to hold and flip through a book. These are picture books without text, yet formatted for adults. The only text is on the cover, copyright text and a back page of photo credit. Covers are designed to suggest that the book is for adults readers (design is not childlike). The carefully chosen images are magnificently colorful and chosen to hold interest and pique curiosity. Emma Rose Sparrow contributes a portion of her earnings to the National Alzheimer's Association, the world's leading health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research.
