Robert Choi

Robert Sang-Ung Choi was born in Chicago to Korean immigrant parents who greatly valued their heritage. Robert enjoyed Korean music, language, food, martial arts and culture throughout his childhood and quickly developed a keen sense of his ethnicity.

Born with a special relationship to music and the arts, Robert soon travelled abroad to learn about new cultures, heading first to Salzburg, Austria. There, he joined a chamber orchestra that travelled and performed concerts throughout Europe. Soon after that he founded Fuegokoori, which performs music for cello, violin and guitar. He has also served as principal and leading cellist of various symphony orchestras in Germany, Singapore and Malaysia. Currently, he continues to perform as a cellist and vocalist in various capacities.

Robert is a full-time music educator and makes his home in Singapore with his wife and two boys.
