Niamh Boyce

A multi award winning Irish writer, Niamh lives in the Irish Midlands. She's interested in history, women's history and voices, especially those that have been silenced. She mixes fact and fiction in her historical novels, both The Herbalist and Her Kind. The Herbalist was based on the mysterious case of an Indian Herbalist in Niamh's home town back in the 1940s. It won Best Debut Novel (Irish Book Awards) and was nominated for an IMPAC award. She won The Hennessy Literary Award for her poetry. Niamh's most recent novel Her Kind was inspired by the sorcery trial of Alice Kyteler, a landmark case in the history of witchcraft - it was an instant bestseller, and shortlisted for the EU Prize for Literature.
