Diana Laverdure-Dunetz, MS, holds a Master of Animal Science degree and is a multi- award-winning dog health writer, vegan canine nutritionist and passionate animal advocate. She has been formulating fresh-food diets for dogs all over the world for more than a decade, using nutritional therapies to help her canine clients overcome a myriad of chronic diseases and achieve their best possible health. A longtime vegetarian, Diana became vegan in 2017. At this time, she transformed her canine nutrition practice into strictly promoting and creating plant-based diets for dogs. Through her website Plant-Powered Dog (https://www.plantpowereddog.com/) and her consultation/formulation practice, Diana empowers dog lovers to raise thriving plant-based dogs. In 2019, Diana created the Plant-Powered Dog Food Summit, which featured 17 global leaders in the fields of veterinary nutrition, science and animal activism. The summit was the first of its kind to reveal the scientific facts about plant-based vs. animal-based diets for dogs. Thousands of people signed up to watch this ground-breaking event. Diana’s new book, The Plant-Powered Dog: Unleash the healing powers of a whole-food plant-based diet to help your canine companion enjoy a healthier, longer life (Dogwise Publishing, 2023) draws on the latest scientific research to demonstrate why a nutritionally-sound vegan diet may be the missing link to optimum health for modern companion dogs. The book also provides a step-by-step blueprint to helping dog guardians raise thriving plant-based dogs. Diana and her husband, Dr. Rodney Dunetz, support many animal rights organizations. In 2019, they adopted their dog, Moo, from Vietnam. He resides with them in South Florida, where he enjoys basking in the sunshine and thrives on a plant-based diet.
