Nathan Holsteen was raised in Topeka, Kansas. After graduating from Louisiana State University--Baton Rouge with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he worked as an engineer for a number of years in Fort Worth, Texas. He left engineering (at least temporarily) to study theology at Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS), earning the ThM in 1991. After that, Nathan and his wife, Janice, headed across the pond so that he could pursue a PhD in theology at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. He earned the PhD in 1996. Nathan currently serves as Professor of Systematic Theology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary--where he tries to demystify the study of theology (ask his students about Auggie the Big Fat Dawgie, for example). He formerly served as Professor of Theological Studies at DTS. Along the way, he has published articles in peer-reviewed journals, and contributed a number of essays to edited collections. One way to chart Nathan's life is by listing the sporting teams he supports. In chronological order... OU Football: Boomer Sooner! KU Basketball: Rock Chalk Jayhawk! LSU (all sports): Geaux Tigers! TCU Football: Go Frogs!
