Hello! I'm thrilled to announce the publication of "Treating Chronic Pain: Pill-Free Approaches to Move People from Hurt to Hope". I co-authored this with Don Teater, a physician who works on chronic pain and opioid issues on a national level (also my husband, but that's another story). We're in the midst of an opioid epidemic that is killing about 64,000 people annually. This started, in large part, due to an explosion of prescribing opioids for pain. This book will load you up with worksheets, assessment tools, and handouts to dramatically improve your work with those in pain. All of the material in the book is based on the latest research evidence. You may also be interested in "Overcoming Compassion Fatigue: A Practical Resilience Workbook". I co-authored this workbook with John Ludgate, an internationally respected CBT clinician. Compassion fatigue is a risk for anyone in the helping professions; therapists, physicians, psychologists, animal welfare workers, teachers, and other healthcare and mental health providers. It is the secondary impact of dealing with people who are struggling and dealing with trauma and pain. Symptoms include sleep problems, mood changes, irritability, feeling guilty or over-responsible, and many other consequences of caring. Highly empathetic people are at greater risk. The good news is that compassion fatigue is preventable and treatable. In our workbook you will find a rich variety of tools to help prevent and treat compassion fatigue symptoms. We rely on a lot of cognitive-behavioral techniques to help you move forward with strength and purpose. You will be armed with an array of worksheets and handouts that you can use for yourself or for others who might benefit. Please check out my website, www.MarthaTeater.com. You will find information about trainings and consultation that I provide. I would love to hear from you anytime. You can email me at Martha@MarthaTeater.com. I wish you a long and healthy career helping others! Martha
