Richard Clark is the author of twelve non-fiction books about Greece, his first The Greek Islands – A Notebook was published in 2011 followed by books about Crete, Rhodes and Corfu. A new edition of his best-selling Crete – A Notebook was released in the summer of 2014 and a Greek translation of this book came out in 2016. His latest travelogue 'Eastern Crete' was published in July 2018.
In 1982, on a whim, the English journalist Richard upped sticks and left the country of his birth to go and work as a teacher in Crete. So began a love affair with the Greek Islands which he frequently returns to.
His books are a series of snapshots of his experiences on the islands he has grown to love. They are less travel guides and more travelling companions.
The author is a writer, editor and journalist who has worked on an array of national newspapers and magazines in the UK. He is married with two grown up children and lives in Kent in South East England and Crete.
Richard's debut novel, The Lost Lyra, was published in 2019 and became a bestseller and was followed by 'Return to Turtle Beach' (2020), 'The Forgotten Song' (2021), 'The Crete Walking Society', (2022) and 'A Piano Bar in Crete' (2023).
