Hi my name is Cassie Reese.
I have been studying environmental practices for over five years and slowly implementing them into my life.
For a long time I felt as if my life had no purpose. I searched high and low to try and find one. I was attending Arizona State University and decided to take a sustainability course. This was an introductory course, and the first step in my journey.
Sustainability 101 opened my eyes to the problems of the world. In the United States and other first world countries, we quickly fall blind to environmental issues as they don’t directly impact us. The problem is, they do, and they will start becoming more and more prominent unless we wake up.
How often do you turn the water on and leave it running before you take a shower?
Honestly, I used to do this all the time. I never thought about where the water was coming from and where it goes after. According to home-water-works.org, the average American uses 17.2 gallons of water per 8 minute shower. Think about this:
If you take 1 shower a day for 365 days, you use 6278 gallons of water JUST on showering each and every year. The scary part is showering is the third largest water consumption activity. That means there are two ways we use water more, those being toilets and wash machines.
The point of this giant rant is to really get you to think about what you are doing to help, or more than likely harm the environment.
Help me fix the world. For me, for you, for our children, and for the future generations.
