Larchfield Trees was born out of Larchfield Bonsai which was started by my wife Cath & myself in 1992 as a result of the 1990 recession. At that time I was running my own silk screen and graphics business but due to the downturn in the economy, coupled with the explosion of the personal computer onto the market, my skills had become outdated so I turned to my other interest, Bonsai. This in turn led to an interest in Japanese maples and we first exhibited and sold Japanese maples at the Malvern Spring Garden show 1993 and this year attended our 26th show. Over the years we have gained a great deal of knowledge about Japanese maples with hands on propagating, growing and selling them. This book "An Illustrated Guide to Japanese Maples for Garden Planting and Patio Pots" sets out to answer all the questions we get asked at the many garden shows we attend throughout the year. With my flair for design and Cath's editing ability we are proud to have been able to produce and self publish this book, the first perhaps of many. I hope you will enjoy reading it and find it of great use in the continued pleasure of your maple collection.
