A native Virginian, Sarah Thompson moved to upstate New York’s Finger Lakes region in 2005 to cook; her husband, to make wine. Today, she's a freelance writer, crafting approachable stories covering a broad array of topics—from biotechnology to social entrepreneurship, plant genetics to people management, and fermented beverages to business. She has contributed to magazines by Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Human Ecology; Edible Finger Lakes; The Finger Lakes Wine Gazette; Cornell Chronicle; and Finger Lakes Community Newspapers. Along her career journey, Thompson also managed media and public relations, cooked professionally, worked in corporate catering sales and event planning, and organized executive education programs. She lives with her husband and two children in a house on 11 acres overlooking Seneca Lake; their new vineyard's first half-acre of Riesling vines will be planted in Spring 2016. Finger Lakes Wine Country is Thompson's first book.
